RE: INVESTORS WANTED to invest in Speakerboy Loudspeakers!
A brief history of the Speakerboy Project, started initially as Speakerboy.org online.
The story of Speakerboy goes back to roughly 1996, in so far as the name "Speakerboy", which was coined by best friend Jim. We worked together at a machinery manufacturer at the time and he nick-named me Speakerboy, because I would come in before our shift and stay after our shift to build my home-brewed loudspeakers.
Personally I started building speakers as far back as 1978 or so. My oldest brother was a speaker nut and taught me everything he knew but I took it to all new levels. I have always been engrossed, passionate and obsessive about speakers. Finally in 2004, while still working for a machinery manufacturer and web-mastering my FreeDJAmerica.com DJ Directory, I noticed a small factory for rent in Plainfield, IL located within the downtown district and surrounded by busy streets.
Being a complete "bootstrapping" entrepreneur, I managed somehow to convince the owner of the property and his son-in-law property manager Dave, (who is a certified Master Cabinet Builder and my one and only partner at the present time), to allow me use of the old factory for designing, building, testing, demonstrating and selling Speakerboy Loudspeakers.
I left my job at the manufacturer to pursue my dream. I cleaned out the old factory, trimmed the bushes, slapped a fresh coat of paint on the walls and started to work. The majority of my marketing was done online and my involvement within the Disc Jockey Industry fueled the immediate plans. I had two potential investors, (one family member and one friend), who eventually backed out prior to any contributions being made. Six months later and with only several sets of speaker built and sold, I could no longer afford to keep the operation afloat. I liquidated all the product I had and packed up the shop and headed back to my home office where I have been working full time since, on and off in managerial roles with the exception of running the DJ Directory and building DJ websites in my remaining waking hours as a no-profit hobby.
What's going on with Speakerboy currently:
It's now quickly approaching 2008, nearly four years since I began the project. Throughout the years I have maintained my friendship / business partnership with Dave. In the past year we have completed what is to be our new flagship model the T5A. All of the research, design, testing and initial cabinetry were started before I closed up shop in 2004. We finally finished the first build of that model and it's what you see promoted here at the site. It's a fantastic sounding speaker and strikingly handsome. The price-point is inline with competitive brands, but it's niche' is that it is truly audiophile grade, sounding nothing like a typical portable public address speaker. The other advantage it has is that it's customizable in terms of look, convenience features and performance. Unlike all major brands, it is also available in kit form to reduce cost for the consumer.
New Horizons for Speakerboy Loudspeakers:
While the original challenges I had in 2004 still remain today i.e; lack of investment funds to design, test, build and market the Speakerboy line of high power loudspeakers, many of the original hurdles have been met. I have the fabrication facility available to me, I have a Master Cabinet Builder on board and I', still tied into the DJ Community, possibly more than ever before. I am convinced that the idea and the opportunity to strike gold still exists today. I feel that what needs to happen is some essential rekindling of old interests by distributors and customers, as well as some new progressive steps towards demonstrating the quality of the product at DJ Conventions and Local Chapter meetings of various DJ clubs is in order. The DJ Directory is still going strong and I have the trust and support of hundreds, if not thousands of disc jockeys who would like to see this come to fruition in the very near future.
Other product offerings besides the T5A:
Obviously at this point this is the model we'll need to demo and promote, since it's built and tested plus I have enough online marketing in place to provide exposure to people with the desire to check it out online. I have immediate high profile ties with leaders in the DJ Community which could help me spread the word and initiate public demonstrations. I'm just a few keystrokes away from mass marketing emails to potentially thousands of disc jockeys and other audio enthusiasts. The T5A will be the speaker we roll with initially, but much consideration has been given to all the great feedback we've heard. That feedback will go into future offerings including more models, lighter weight models, accessories and matching powered subwoofers.
What needs to happen next and why I have published a page Titled "Investors Wanted":
I feel that with a few more interested parties involved, including cash investors and various support roles like officers, administrators, sales minded individuals and those who are willing to get some dirt under their finger nails, we could make The Speakerboy Project really take-off. The name can even change, which might be necessary to gain more credibility from those who simply can't take the name seriously, although the product should be a deadly serious concern to major speaker manufacturers. Hearing is Believing. Even if you don't know what audiophile sound is, your education will happen the instant you hear these loudspeakers.
American Made, American Pride, American Quality:
Let's bring some pride back into this Great Country, which hundreds of thousands of young men and women are defending today. Let's show the rest of the world that we're not limited to buying foreign audio products. We can make our own, thank you very much! Won't you help launch this project past the point it already is? INVESTORS WANTED!
